Situated in Sedgefield, a sought after residential area in the heart of County Durham, Wykes Close and Ruddick Mews offer a select development of 6 two bedroom bungalows, with 3 bungalows of Wykes Close and 3 on Ruddick Mews.
With a rich heritage and a growing community surrounded by picturesque countryside, Sedgefield provides the ideal location for growing families close to the A1 and A689, with easy access to Newcastle and Sunderland, as well as Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Durham less than 30-minutes’ drive away.
To pay homage to the history of the local area, Ruddick Mews was named after one of Sedgefield’s fallen war heroes. The split scheme was developed in partnership with Livin Housing to create high-quality homes in a tranquil, convenient and village centre location.
The bungalows are part of a three year development programme which commenced in early 2017 to build 200 much needed new homes across County Durhamand Darlington. The overall £23m investment will deliver two and three bedroom homes, including designated accommodation for the over 55s and family homes.
The project consisted of the design and construction of the 6 bungalows across a split development, with Section 38/278 works comprising the construction and subsequent adoption of new frontage footpaths, roads and visitor parking.
The bungalows each had 2 parking bays to help minimise the amount of roadside parking from new residents, with landscaping between parking bays breaking up the street scenes. The bungalows were designed to comply with the sizes set out by the Nationally Described Space Standards. All plots had generous sized habitable rooms, with a large corner window to the lounge and each plot had a lounge with south facing windows to maximise sunlight.
