Overview

The Ascent embodies contemporary design principles to create a bespoke city centre development, while complementing its neighbouring historical context.

The project comprised 196 individual, high-end student apartments with 4 apartments on the 10th floor altered to create 2 penthouse apartments. The apartments were spread across 83,315 sq ft with a standard more akin to a boutique hotel than student lodgings.

The building addressed the requirement for a range of luxury apartments to enrich students’ housing experience and to elevate student living. The 12-storey building was constructed using a hybrid concrete frame structure comprising pre-cast and in-situ concrete elements. Elevations were constructed with a steel framing system and rain screen cladding that completed the external façade.

The state-of-the-art studios consist of a bedroom with en-suite bathroom and kitchen. The ground floor comprised a spacious, open plan common room, residents laundry room, bike store, reception and residents only gym.

The Ascent demonstrates Tolent’s ability to deliver works in a city centre environment; ensuring smooth material distribution, with minimal disruption, to achieve efficient programme delivery.
