Overview

River Quarter is a unique and contemporary city centre mixed-used development stretching over c.350,000 sq ft.

This flagship project played a major part in the inner city redevelopment of Sunniside to attract business back to part of the city which boasts a high density of fine listed buildings, many of which have been sensitively restored by Tolent as part of the overall regeneration project.

Phase 1 of the River Quarter development comprised the design and build of a 12 screen, 2,200 seat Cineworld multiplex cinema with 4 private boxes, 20,000 sq ft Gala Casino, 4 A3 commercial units on the ground and first floors as well as a 650 space multi-storey car park.

The scope of works also included the fit out of the cinema which was added to our scope of works during project delivery.

All stakeholders were pleased with the completed development which became an award winning scheme. Careful, early planning and early appointment of the design team and contractor paid dividends as we were able to work in partnership with the Local Authority and English Partnerships to ensure the maximum benefit was achieved for the public investment.

The project at River Quarter demonstrates Tolent’s ability to deliver developments on severely restricted brownfield sites, protecting and restoring Listed features &undertaking complex fit-out works in conjunction with the main building contract.
