The Cotherstone development involved the construction of eight new houses built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, half of which were to be sold, while the rest were allocated for affordable rent.
The homes have energy saving features such as solar panels and extra insulation which makes the homes 25% more efficient than the current building regulations require, therefore the properties benefit from lower costs for central heating and hot water and a lower impact to the environment
The development is sensitive to the characteristics of the picturesque village, using stone work for walls, dry stone walling and high quality materials. This development is one of the greenest schemes in the country and has featured in several prestigious publications. The buildings have also achieved ‘Build for Life’ status and are adaptable for future needs.
