Collingwood Mews is a premier development 14 high quality family homes in close proximity of historic Tynemouth offering a collection of prestigious homes.
The development comprises a blend of traditional 4/5 bedroom townhouses and courtyard gardens together with a double garage, topped either with additional outdoor patio space or an atelier. Each of the homes featured master suite with outside terrace, a double garage and photovoltaic panels
The homes were traditionally constructed to sit comfortably with its neighbours as a sympathetic reinterpretation of the network of terraces and back lanes nearby. The strong approach to urban design featured buff brickwork facings, reconstituted stone detailing and sash windows.
Integral photovoltaic panels were fitted to the roofs with a suitable orientation and aspect to create electricity to help with everyday energy requirements. The green electricity generated by the system will help residents to reduce CO2 emissions by over 430kg a year.
Tolent Living, previously part of the Gentoo Group, delivered the project in partnership with Gentoo Homes. During the partnership, the group assumed the role of the client, architect, developer, contractor and sales agent; providing us with a greater insight of the entire development lifecycle and how we can support our clients to achieve successful projects.
Land was purchased from North Tyneside Council following a competitive land bid where design proposals were required. The initial design, based upon a group of contemporary town houses, was supported by local authority planning officers, helped secure the opportunity.
Collingwood Mews was shortlisted for the 2013 LABC Best High Volume New Housing Development.
During the delivery of the scheme the site’s Project Manager received recognition for his outstanding performance andshortlisted for the LABC Site Supervisor of the Year Award.
