Alwoodley Medical Centre is located in the suburb of Alwoodley 5 miles north of Leeds and provided a home for combined practices to meet the needs of the rise in patient numbers in addition to general practice services.
The building houses an outpatients department for Harrogate Hospital, providing a range of consultant led outreach services including imaging and diagnostics, as well as an excellent range of primary care services that are delivered from the site, including: minor surgery, smoking cessation clinic, X-Ray unit and in-house pharmacy.
The project consisted of the design and build of a 2-storey state-of-the-art medical centre which was completed in 31 weeks, to an 'Excellent' BREEAM rating.
The construction consisted of a steel framed structure, with brick dwarf wall to the perimeter, then a fully clad facade, a Kingspan roof and powder coated aluminium windows and doors. Due to the size of the overall site an extensive landscaping scheme was designed and planted to all areas, which enhanced the project.
