Overview
Tolent has completed multiple projects for Travelodge, from a £3m mixed-used development in Middlesbrough, to a £25m Travelodge PLUS flagship hotel in London and the largest new build Travelodge in the UK.
In 2018, Tolent completed two design and build projects for Travelodge, one of which comprised a 395 bedroom BREEAM ‘excellent’ Travelodge PLUS, in the heart of London’s business district. Travelodge PLUS provides an elevated level of style and comfort, thoughtfully designed with both business and leisure travellers in mind.
Tolent led the multi-disciplinary team to construct the concrete-framed building, clad in innovative lightweight natural stone and terracotta, with triple-glazed bedrooms and modular bathroom pods
In addition to the normal challenges of city centre construction, Tolent rose to particular client requirements by observing religious holidays, during which time no construction works were carried out. Additionally, the existing structures were demolished in two parts, to preserve revenue from the mega-poster advertising on the main office block.
Another project completed in 2018 was the Travelodge in Layerthorpe. Situated in close proximity to York Minster, the project comprised the design and construction of the 128 bedroom Travelodge and Costa Drive Thru.
The hotel was styled in Travelodge’s new, contemporary brand design, with all en suite rooms featuring luxurious king size Travelodge Dreamer Beds. State-of-the-art bathroom pods were utilised for the en suites, which provided a high-quality, factory controlled modular construction solution for the project.
Tolent was selected from the client’s list of approved contractors for the development of the new hotels and met the project’s criteria of cost, quality and time. Tolent achieved this through our experience of constructing new build Travelodge hotels, coupled with our familiarity with all aspects of the construction and interior fit-out required for a successful hotel opening.
Tolent’s ‘can do’ attitude to overcoming construction and programme challenges was impressive - in particular when dealing with the drainage and service diversions and the S278 works
