Tolent has transformed the former Vaux Brewery with the construction of The Beam as well-as infrastructure and a new public square.

The Beam serves up more than 59,000 sq ft of office and leisure space, extending the footprint of the city centre towards the riverside, connected by Keel Square. The Beam overlooks the river Wear and accommodates businesses requiring contemporary working environments, from as little as 2,500 sq ft up to 61,670 sq ft.
The building’s facilities include: a manned reception, feature courtyard common area, fully accessed raised floors, LED lighting, exposed ceilings and natural ventilation, lifts, shower and changing facilities, bicycle stores and offsite car parking.
The impressive building that marks the start of the creation of a vibrant new district in the city centre of Sunderland. The contract was awarded following our work on a number of key schemes to regenerate the city of Sunderland, including Beacon of Light, Hilton Garden Inn, the Echo Building and Doxford Park.
