Haddington Vale is an extra care facility that creates a vibrant community where residents can continue to live independently.
The facility comprises 96 units including 42 extra care apartments, 40 apartments and 14 bungalows for over 55s, together with a range of communal facilities including: a hairdressers, residents lounge, games room and fully landscaped gardens, together with a specially designed dementia garden.
Haddington Vale was designed to meet HAPPI standards and provide a range of design features that offer an attractive alternative to the family home, with the ability to adapt over time to meet changing needs, including:
Apartment buildings achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ score utilising a 57.84kW solar pv array and 100kW biomass heating system that provides buildings with heat and power, whilst bungalows were built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
The project was complemented by sustainable construction methods which further reduced the project’s carbon footprint during the construction stage, including the use of eco cabins. Tolent met or exceeded all targets for the HCA funded scheme which included seven apprenticeship opportunities, four employment opportunities as well as comprehensive school and college engagement.
Haddington Vale was designed to meet HAPPI standards, and also achieved a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating.
"The extra care model of housing has been shown to improve the health of residents and allows for appropriate health care and support to be delivered to people in their own home. I wish every success to Tolent in this latest venture and look forward to seeing the finished residential development."
