Senate House, University of London

Project Details:
A major project for the University of London required the refurbishment of a 1930s Art Deco Grade II listed Library, maintaining continuity of existing features to standards set by English Heritage. Works were executed in a part-occupied building and the main tower libraries remained operational throughout the works.
Tolent’s work involved the stripping out of existing electrical services and accessories followed by storage and refurbishment of heritage fixtures and fittings. We then reconfigured floor layouts and made structural alterations to risers and existing lift shafts to accommodate new services installation which included M&E, data/ IT, security, communications, BMS and controls, audio-visual, book tagging and fire alarms. Door, shelving and furniture were upgraded alongside various remedials and refurbishment of existing polished hardwood strip flooring and provision of new flooring.
