Apex Temple Court Hotel
Project Details:
Conversion of existing 1950s office building into 186 bedroom 4 star hotel with restaurant, bar and gym facilities. Work included demolitions, major extensions, building fabric remodelling, interior design, fit out & furniture design. The project also involved retention and refurbishment of Grade 1 listed building for office use and to remain occupied throughout.
The building falls within the Inner Temple Conservation area and detailed discussions were held with the planning and conservation departments to achieve this.
The proposals sort to maximise the impact of the guests' arrival from Fleet Street, through a listed classical courtyard, into a reception area that opens on to a sheltered central courtyard. This central courtyard, previously used for car parking, has been turned into an integral part of the hotel, with the public spaces arranged around it.
The layout and design of the hotel celebrates the grandeur of the setting and the identifiable characteristics of the Inner Temple, allowing the guest a glimpse into the world of high court barristers for the duration of their stay.
