University of Huddersfield, New Teaching Block, Oldham Campus
Project Details
A new teaching facility for the University comprising performance rooms, changing facilities, teaching and lecture rooms. The building incorporated a high level of acoustic screening and sustainable energy features.
The four storey building houses specialist facilities for degree course such as digital journalism, performing arts, architectural technology and interior design, multimedia design, construction and digital arts practice.
The building incorporated performance rooms, lecture facilities in addition to teaching and office accommodation and changing rooms. Acoustic screening was a major requirement of the works and Tolent worked closely with the relevant specialists to ensure the correct levels were met.
Contract Quick Look
The building achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’.
Where possible the reuse of materials took place including the use of recycled stone for the sub-structure of the building.
Rainwater harvesting and air source heat pumps were utilised to help achieve the 10% renewable energy target set.
