Grace House Hospice
Project Details
Grace House Children's Hospice is the first children's hospice in the region that is not attached to an adult hospice and provides specialist care 365 days a year for children and young people with additional support offered for their families.
The development includes a multi-sensory room, a 'den' for teenagers, a library and music room, ample play space, a computer and technology area and a quiet room as well as living accommodation, dining and therapy spaces, gardens and an inner courtyard, together with nursing and fundraising staff facilities.
A significant emphasis was placed upon the design aesthetics, to give the building a homely-feel and avoid the impression of a clinical building. This was reflected within the lighting design, and the provision of under-floor heating.
