As a subsidiary of Tolent Plc, Tolent Construction Limited is directed and managed by those who are actively involved in the day to day running of the business. This provides the capability for immediate decision making, and allows greater flexibility to suit individual project demands.
Dealing with Tolent Construction Limited is refreshingly different in the current climate of aggressive contracting. Our approach - The Tolent Approach - brings total commitment to achieving those promises made at the time of pre-contract discussions:-
to bring contracts to a satisfactory conclusion, on time and on budget. Our gained success is reflected in the volume of repeat business from satisfied customers who have appreciated our efforts to make business relationships pleasant, rewarding and successful. Over 70% of our turnover is from such sources.
One aspect fundamental to this philosophy of co-operation is the educated attitudes of the staff. At all levels staff are discouraged from adopting an adversarial stance against clients and their consultants, and encouraged to adopt a helpful approach. Unlike many other contractors we do not actively seek to benefit from errors or difficulties which are the responsibilities of others, but instead we endeavour to offer solutions to the problems.
Our philosophy is to make it easy for clients and consultants to do business with us.
The Industrial Relations record of Tolent Construction Limited is second to none. We have a large, stable workforce directly employed on our own payroll. It is not the company policy to either 'hire and fire' or employ agency labour except in the more extreme of circumstances.
Our rates of pay are above average, but this is amply repaid in the loyalty and effort we receive from the labour force in return.
This policy has been well rewarded with consistently high productivity and excellent quality workmanship, together with an untarnished relationship with the Trade Unions.
Like many contractors we exercise a firm control over both suppliers and sub-contractors who are engaged for elements of a project. These controls may vary depending on the nature of the project, etc., but broadly encompass the following measures:-
Programmes
Design/information meetings
Progress meetings on and off site
Material Testing
Fabrication Testing
Delivery/storage of materials
Particular attention to critical elements
Unlike many contractors, however, we enjoy an enviable relationship with our sub-contractors and suppliers. By treating them fairly and helping them whenever possible, we benefit from a reciprocal improvement in service, and consequently the project benefits as a result. As mentioned earlier, there are currently no claims pending between ourselves and any of our sub-contractors or suppliers.
Tolent Construction Limited encourage all staff to keep an open mind about design details - not to become over critical, but not to divorce themselves from the consultants. The experience and expertise enjoyed by the staff can be a major benefit to consultants at the design stage where problematic areas are encountered. We are always willing to discuss such matters to develop a solution which is acceptable to all parties economical, aesthetic and 'buildable'. By adopting this approach we have repeatedly been able to avoid delays and escalating costs on projects, and maintained our reputation as a co-operative contractor.
By adopting the attitudes and philosophy described here we can offer a service which has quality at its core - our interest in the design can help to ensure value for money, our expertise and ability ensure that construction techniques are correctly executed. Our relationship with suppliers and sub-contractors results in an excellent service, our attitudes to labour ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
Although we are experienced in administering quality assurance procedures to demonstrate and ensure quality checking, we firmly believe that the 'Tolent Philosophy' results in greater quality success, as our expanding list of satisfied customers reflects.
In summary the Tolent Philosophy is to be non-adversarial, look for long-term relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors and to provide a quality job, on time, within budget.
